Obituary of Edward Peter Wolf

Please share a memory of Edward to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edward Peter Wolf Photographer, writer, sports fan, friend and family man Edward Peter Wolf, 63, of Cedar Grove, NJ died Friday, January 22 at New York Presbyterian Hospital after a brief, intense battle with pancreatic cancer. Known to everyone as Pete, he was kind, funny, unpredictable, brilliant, and devoted to his family and friends. Born in New York City in 1952, Pete grew up in Montclair and lived in Cedar Grove since 1987. A graduate of St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City, NJ and the University of Pennsylvania, he distinguished himself in corporate communications at Warner-Lambert Co. for 17 years, and retired from Pfizer Inc., both in Morris Plains, NJ. Since then, he was the Director of Corporate Communications for Par Pharmaceutical Co., Inc. in Woodcliffe Lake, NJ; a public affairs officer for NJ Assemblyman Thomas P. Giblin; a reporter/stringer for Reuters U.S. General News, and a freelance writer and photographer. Beginning in 1978, he was a writer and reporter for Dorf Feature Service, an affiliate of The Star-Ledger; a public information manager for Upsala College in East Orange, NJ, and a public relations specialist for Borg Warner Corp./Baker Industries in Parsippany, NJ. Pete had many avocations, including photography, sports, music, and traveling to his house in Ballinskelligs, Ireland, all enhanced by his crackerjack use and understanding of digital tools and social media. Facebook users have long enjoyed his vast library of breathtaking nature and scenic photography. His musical interests were widespread, and he always had a guitar nearby to strum. A lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Rangers, he spent much of his life doing laps in a swimming pool, and enjoyed bowling, golf and tennis. A member of the Commonwealth Club of Montclair, he served on its board of trustees and also as club president. Peter was a volunteer with the Outpost in the Burbs, Montclair, and at the soup kitchen in Christ Episcopal Church, East Orange, and was a supporter of youth golf programs at Weequahic Golf Course in Newark, NJ. Never at a loss for a story, or a personal link connecting him to someone he had just met, Peter loved bringing people together, and helping neighbors and friends in many ways, big and small. Predeceased by his parents, Helena and Franklin H. Wolf, and a brother, Franklin, Jr., he leaves his wife, Daphne; his son Patrick and his wife Mary; a daughter, Casey; three sisters, Betsy Wolf, Suzanne Wolf, and Ellen Berkeley; a nephew, Jon Sciambi; an international network of cousins, and more friends than anyone could imagine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Lamp for Haiti (www.lampforhaiti.org); or to the soup kitchen, FACT (Friends Acting and Caring Together), checks payable to FACT, c/o Peggy Olivi, Treasurer, 181 Longwood Drive, Inwood I-1, Little Falls, NJ 07424.
