Obituary of Leocadia Phillip

Leocadia Phillip, 87, a longtime resident of Massapequa Park, NY, died Friday, November 30, at Mountainside Hospital, Montclair, N.J., where she was visiting her daughter. Mrs. Phillip was a registered nurse who worked in Jersey City, N.J., and Hilo, Hawaii. Her last job was as the nurse at Massapequa High School, from 1972 to into the 1980s. Mrs. Phillip was married for 57 years to John, who worked at Sperry in Lake Success, N.Y., and died in July, 2008. She is survived by her three childrenDorothy Scott of Elmira, N.Y.; John Phillip, of Narragansett, R.I., and Elizabeth Uva, of Montclair, N.J., as well as grandchildren Andrew, Thomas, Emma and Christian, and great grandchildren Ryan, Carly, Leah and Amelia. Visitation will take place Sunday, Dec. 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park Street, Montclair. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3 at St. Cassian R.C. Church. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetary, North Arlington, N.J. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
