Obituary of Mary Menake

Mary Menake, of Montclair, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024. She was 88 years old. She was a beloved wife and beautiful mother who will be dearly missed. She was born in County Galway, Ireland on October 2, 1935. She trained in London to become a registered nurse, and worked there and in Galway before immigrating to the United States, where she worked in the Boston area and New York City. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, George T. Menake; her three children, Kathleen Menake of Montclair, Douglas Menake and his wife Jamie of Bloomfield, and Cecelia Schier and her husband Tom of Montclair; four grandchildren; her sister Sheila Donnelly and her husband Rupert of County Mayo, Ireland; her sister-in-law Kathleen Walsh of County Galway, Ireland; and many nieces and nephews both here and in Ireland. She was predeceased by her cherished siblings: Thomas Walsh, John Walsh, Christina O’Connor, Florence McNamara, and James Walsh.

Cremation will be private. Services are postponed due to family illness.
