Obituary of Kathryn Gorman

We celebrate the life of Kathryn Gorman who passed away peacefully after battling a rare form of cancer with bravery and grace on January 21, 2024 at the age of 32. She was surrounded by her family holding her hand and easing her passage. She was a loving and vibrant daughter, sister, and fierce friend who touched the lives of many with her kindness, generosity, and humor.

Kathryn was born in Livingston, NJ to John Gorman and Diane (McGarity) Gorman. She grew up in Montclair, NJ and attended Montclair High School, where she captained the varsity tennis team, served as the varsity baseball team’s student manager, and played violin in the orchestra. She then graduated from Rutgers University with dual degrees in Communication and Art History and pursued a career in marketing and media. Later she obtained her MBA from New York University and became a spirited brand manager for Pendleton Whisky.

Kathryn was adored by and left a profound impact on her friends, coworkers, and classmates alike. As the world’s most thoughtful gift giver, she enjoyed shopping, and spoiling her friends and their kids with presents. She was an avid fitness fanatic and self-care guru, as well as an active and enthusiastic traveler, always excited to explore new places, foods, and wines while soaking up all that life had to offer. Most importantly though, she had an effervescent spirit that filled every room and heart – to know Kathryn was to love her.  

Kathryn is survived by her father John, mother Diane, brother Patrick and his wife Hillary, and countless relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. 

A wake and visitation will be held at Moriarty Funeral Home in Montclair, NJ on Sunday January 28thfrom 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Funeral mass will be held at St. Cassian Church also in Montclair, NJ on Monday January 29th at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center or Animal Lighthouse Rescue in Kathryn's memory.
