Rosanne Morey, 78, of Montclair, died on October 12, 2010 following a stroke. Born in Grand Island, Nebraska, she moved to Montclair in 1962. An active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church for more than forty years, she devoted herself in particular to outreach ministries, while also serving on Altar Guild, Vestry, and Buildings and Grounds Committee. She was one of the founders of the community feeding program Toni's Kitchen. She served the Montclair Historical Society as both trustee and member of the executive committee. Rosanne was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta while at the University of Nebraska, where she received both a baccalaureate (1954) and a master's degree (1962) in history and political science. She also attended seminars at the London School of Economics (1955-56). A writer and researcher with experience in banking and economics, she made notable contributions to publications from the National Planning Association and the Reader's Digest Association. More recently, she served as director of development at Youth Consultation Service (1984-2004), where she was responsible for originating and maintaining relationships with donor organizations. She was predeceased by her sisters Mary Martin McLaughlin and Isabel McLaughlin Bayard. She is survived by her son John Morey of Montclair NJ, and her daughter Anne Morey, partner Claudia Nelson and their daughter Mary Isabel Nelson, of College Station TX. Hours of visitation will be held on October 14th at the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park Street, Montclair, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Luke's, 73 South Fullerton Avenue, Montclair on October 15th at 10:00. Interment in Grand Island, Nebraska will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Youth Consultation Service for the Therapeutic Nursery, 284 Broadway Newark, NJ 07104.
