Aunt Delle was our family's Queen and Matriarch. She had such a presence about her. Welcoming. Strong. Funny. Generous. Smart. Proper. Kind. Caring. Always more interested in learning what you were doing than wanting to talk about herself. When I stayed with her and Uncle Tom during one Spring, she put me to work by sweeping and cleaning their porch. She, along with my mom, believed there were “no free lunches.” I was more than happy to do so to try to earn her respect and approval. She had that way about her because she was so revered. Such was a special lady and a beautiful soul. A life very well-lived. Love to Carolyn, Nancy, Dean and their wonderful families. A tree is planted in her honor.
