Obituary of Nancy Marie Miller

Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Nancy Marie (Walsh) Miller (December 20, 1933 - September 3, 2023), devoted wife and mother, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family and loved ones, and her beloved cat, Moochie. Married to her husband, Frank (deceased December of 2020), for 64 years, Nancy was the true embodiment of what it meant to be a wife and mother. Nancy had a very busy younger adult life having all six of her children within ten years of one another. The first four children were all “Irish twins,” being born just over a year apart. The family likes to joke that after the fourth child was born, Frank and Nancy decided to put a television in the bedroom.

Family was of the utmost importance to Nancy, and with her that word was expanded beyond traditional definitions. As full as the house was growing up, Nancy was always ready and willing to welcome others into her home, including extended stays by orphaned boys from Boystown in Kearney, New Jersey, as well as foreign exchange students. Essentially, anyone who entered her home became family to

Nancy. Whether they were simply stopping in to pass some time or to share a meal, before long, they too referred to Nancy simply as “Mom.”

Nancy also had a fierce sense of determination - you would need it with six kids under 10 years of age, right? With her “Nancy can do it!” attitude, she garnered herself the nickname “The Bull.” If you were an obstacle, you did not stand a chance blocking Nancy’s path. She was of the generation that did not complain - she simply went to work and did what needed to be done. Period. With her shining example, she inspired her children and those around her to be better versions of themselves, and she will be sorely missed by those she left behind.

Nancy is preceded in death by her father (Michael Walsh), mother ( Anne (Hayes) Walsh), brother (Michael Walsh), brother (John Walsh), husband (Francis Miller), and son (Christopher Miller). She is survived by sister (Eileen “Cookie” Isenberg), son Gregory (Barbara Carnasciole), son Mark (Monica Miller), daughter Sue Abromitis (Michael), son Matt (Jenny Dore), daughter Jennifer Ascencio (Esteban), Gayle (David Dadian) and grandchildren Casey, Kevin, Kyra, Matthew, Nikki, and Kayleigh, and great grandson, Ronan. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and countless others who will always think of her as “Mom.”
