We first met Mark in 1982 on the day we moved into our home at 108 Clarewill. Right after the closing, we arrived at the house to find Mark in our driveway shooting hoops. He cheerfully greeted us, introduced himself and explained that the prior owners had let him shoot hoops and he hoped we would as well. It seemed like the perfect introduction to our new neighborhood and we were more than happy to have him there. It didn’t hurt that he was about the nicest person we had ever met. In subsequent years, we would see him working at Kings and he always greeted us in the same friendly way. We’re still here, as is the basketball hoop, but we are very sorry that Mark is not. What a lovely person he was, and we will never forget his warm welcome to Montclair.
