Obituary of Barbara Barrett

Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Barbara Helen Barrett (nee Bellino), of Whitehouse Station, NJ formerly of Upper Montclair, NJ passed away peacefully on September 13, 2022.

Visitation will be from 8-9:30Am on Friday September 23.  Then to Saint Cassian Church, 187 Bellevue Avenue Upper Montclair where at 10AM a mass of Christian burial will take place.  Entombment will follow at Mount Hebron Cemetery.

Born and raised in NYC, Barbara graduated from Walton High School in the Bronx and worked at Young and Rubicam Advertising Agency and The New York Telephone Company.

She also did some fashion modeling and developed a lifelong love of dressing to the nines and always trying to look her best when out and about.

Barbara worked as a classroom Teacher’s Aide at Mount Hebron School in Upper Montclair, NJ and happily retired after 25 years. She always said she loved working in the school system so she could be on the same schedule as her children.  She enjoyed the summers and Christmas holidays off to fuss over family and tend to her beloved home in Upper Montclair. Once retired, she and Marty moved to Whitehouse Station, NJ and enjoyed their new townhome, spending time with grandchildren near and far and summer trips to the Jersey Shore.

Barbara was most passionate about her children and is survived by sons Christopher Barrett of Dunedin, FL, Sean Barrett of Simpsonville, SC, as well as daughters Sheila Pedraza (Louis) of Augusta, GA and Paula Kurschus (Eric) of Bernardsville, NJ. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren, Christian and Ryan Pedraza, Makaela and Olivia Kurschus and Joshua, Madison and Carly Barrett.

The entire Barrett family will dearly miss our mother and grandmother. She set a shining example of perseverance, moxie and self-reliance for her entire family and especially her grandchildren.

We will miss her unique take on life, her droll and playful sense of humor, and unwavering work ethic which will keep her memory and spirit alive in our hearts and minds wherever we go.

We love you, Nana.  Until we all meet again.
