Obituary of Ruth Aumack
Ruth Catherine Cody Aumack, 83
Ruth passed to eternal life on September 25, 2021. Born in Bayonne, NJ, she was the child of George and Mary Ellis Cody. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Mary Lou, her brother, George (Duke), and her infant son, Brian Matthew. She is survived by her loving husband, Raymond, her children Denis Andrew (Brianne), Kathleen Lilliana Singh (Manjeet), Timothy Patrick (Meghan), and Ellen Marie. Her grandchildren Elijah, Isaiah, Devin, and Nina Singh, Ethan and Paige Aumack, Lucy and Madeline Aumack, Also surviving are her sister-in-law, Andra Cody, and her niece, Shannan Reis (Jason) and nephew Brian, and Allison Aued and Meredith Trovato, and close cousin and dear friend, Joan Daley. Also several nieces and nephews. In-Laws Donald Aumack (Diane) and James Aumack (Margaret).
She is a graduate and loyal Alumna of St. Aloysius Academy, Jersey City, where she met her best friends through life, Catherine Macchi, Mary Ellen Gaffney, and June Rozniak
She is a graduate of the New Jersey State University with an Education major.
Ruth was a teacher at Carteret and then at the Brunner School at Scotch Plains for eighteen years. She was an acknowledged expert in early childhood education and early childhood special education. She was loaned out to other systems to help them establish developmental programs.
She was a full-time Mom until her youngest child was in high school. She joined Smith Barney Investments and was recruited to Makrod Investments for the next twenty years.
She volunteered for the Bradford school PTA and led a troop of Brownies for the Montclair Girl Scouts.
Ruth is a parishioner of St. Cassian Church, Upper Montclair, where she experienced constant spiritual energy and enjoyed several activities, especially the St. Cassian’s Women’s Bowling League.
Formerly a resident of New York City, Ruth served on the Parish Council of Manhattan’s St. Ignatius Loyola Church.
Proud of her Irish heritage, Ruth experienced an extraordinary Sixth Sense, called “Fe” by the Irish. She had the power of sensing and interpretation.
She travelled extensively through Europe and visited Ireland, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland where she enjoyed alpine skiing. Italy, where she enjoyed a person to person conversation with the Pope, St John Paul II, and Greece, Colombia, South America, where she adopted two of her children, and Panama. She skied at Canada’s Laurentian Mountains and throughout New York State and Vermont.
Ruth’s legacy is the joy she had in her children who continue to carry on her spirit infusing it into their own children. She was an amazing parent.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for St. Peter’s Prep, Jersey City and the Montclair Ambulance Unit.

Funeral from the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park Street Montclair on Thursday September 30, 2021 at 9am. Then to Saint Cassian Church, 187 Bellevue Ave. Upper Montclair where at 10am a mass of Christian burial will be offered. Visitation on Wednesday from 4-8pm.
