Eileen Joanna Reilly June 2, 1934 – March 6, 2021

Eileen Joanna Reilly nee Whelan passed away peacefully in her home on March 6, 2021 surrounded by her loving children.

Born June 2, 1934 to parents Julia and Patrick Whelan in Brooklyn NY, Eileen spent her cherished childhood in Houston, TX and Cranford, NJ. Eileen married Frank J. Reilly in 1964 and together they resided in Ridgewood, NJ before moving to Saddle River, NJ, where Eileen lived for forty years and raised four children. Eileen was predeceased by her adoring husband Frank in 1999.

Eileen is survived by her children Elizabeth, Laura (Steven Macdonald), John, and Patrick (Bernadette), and her three grand-daughters Kayla, Samara and Brooke, who loved their Nana dearly. She is also survived by two sisters, Kathleen Whelan and Anastasia Joelson, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Eileen was predeceased by brothers Patrick “Packy” and Michael, and sisters Mary Ellen and Sheila.

Eileen graduated from Temple University in 1956 and worked as a dental hygienist for many years in NYC. She traveled the world as a young woman and loved a good adventure. As a beach lover, Eileen could pass the day away combing the sand for sea glass or seashells. She loved baking, and spent many sunny days working outside in her yard.

Always the encourager, Eileen was supportive of everyone in her life. She was kind, generous and loving. Her family was everything to her. She was always quick with a smile and laugh and ready to tell a funny story. Of great importance to Eileen was her faith. Eileen was a devout Catholic and a daily communicant.

Eileen will forever have a place in our hearts and will be greatly missed.
