Virginia Purcell (nee Leonard) died on February 8th at the age of 95.  Virginia is preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph, son Brian and her daughter-in-law Karen.  She is survived by four sons Gerry and his wife Ellen, Timothy, Kevin and his fiancé Deirdre and Patrick and his wife Kathleen, as well as, Brian’s wife Anne Long. Virginia loved her grandchildren, including Connor, Brian, Ryan, Sean, Eileen, Jamie, Michael, Kieran and Alison.

Virginia was born on August 8, 1925 in Jersey City, NJ to her parents Enoch and Marie Leonard.  Virginia had two sisters Barbara and Patricia and a brother Bob.  She attended Saint Dominic Academy in Jersey City and was a member of the St. Aedan’s Parish.  Virginia married Joseph Purcell on January 26, 1952 and they lived for a short period of time in North Arlington before settling in Nutley were they remained for over 60 years.

Virginia and Joe were members of Forest Hill Field Club (FHFC) and enjoyed countless memories at FHFC with family and friends for over 50 years.

A memorial mass will take place in the future out of an abundance of caution due to the global pandemic. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the NJSGA Caddie Scholarship Foundation, 3 Golf Drive, Suite 206 Kenilworth, NJ 07033.
