Obituary

Madelyn Cummings FitzGerald, 96, died on September 7, 2019 at her family’s home in Simsbury, CT.  She was born in Montclair, New Jersey on June 24, 1923 to Martin and Delia Cummings. Madelyn was predeceased by her husband Raymon FitzGerald, her brother Joseph Cummings and godson Mark Cummings. She is survived by her sister in-law Susanne Cummings and nephews Paul, Neil, Tony Cummings and Paul Gawkowski. Madelyn also leaves behind special cousins Noreen Flohr husband James Flohr, Terry Leddy husband Ernie Leddy and Patrick McCormack.

Madelyn and her husband were residents of Upper Montclair New Jersey. She was a Eucharistic Minister and a regular volunteer at St. Cassian’s Church. She enjoyed meeting her “coffee klatch” friends after weekday morning Mass. Madelyn graduated from Immaculate Conception High School, Class of 1940. She was a regular New York City commuter up until her retirement from Irving Trust where she worked as an Executive Assistant. Madelyn and Raymon enjoyed spending time and entertaining guests at their summer home at the Jersey Shore in Point Pleasant.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cassian Church, 187 Bellevue Avenue, Upper Montclair, New Jersey on September 21, 2019 at 10:00am. Rites of Committal will follow the Mass at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
