John H Herrmann Retired Montclair Firefighter John "Butch" Herrmann, 74, of Ocean Beach, NJ, formerly of Montclair, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Community Medical Center, Toms River NJ. John was born in Orange NJ to Leonard and Mary Herrmann. He served in the United States Army with the 826th Tank Battalion. John was a Montclair firefighter and retired in 1995 after 25 years of service. John is survived by his wife of 52 years Genevieve "Babe" (nee Armando); son John and his wife, Patti; daughter Lisa Dittrich and her husband, John, and six grandchildren: Christopher, Micaela, Katharine, George, Craig, and Anthony. He is also survived by his sisters Theresa Greig and Rosemary Payton, and brothers Joseph and Robert. He was predeceased by brothers Leonard, Eugene, and William. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 15th from 7pm to 9pm at the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park Street, Montclair. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception Church, Montclair. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Dover Brick Beach First Aid Squad, P.O. Box 172, Normandy Beach, NJ 08739.
