Obituary of David Baird

David Graham Baird, Jr., 88, of Montclair, N.J., died on May 17, 2012.
Mr. Baird was born in New York City on March 26, 1924 and lived in Montclair all of his life. He was a graduate of the Montclair Academy and earned a bachelor's degree from Princeton University (class of 1945) and a master's degree from the Wharton Graduate School of Business in 1949. After working at Chemical Bank in New York City, Mr. Baird joined the family firm, Baird and Company, later Baird, Patrick and Company. He was a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Mr. Baird was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church of Montclair where he served as chairman of the finance committee for many years. He served as an investment advisor to Senior Care of Montclair and the Deer Lake Club of Montville, where he was a member. He was also a member of the Montclair Golf Club, Toastmasters and the Dunworkin Club. For many years, he volunteered with the Montclair Ambulance Unit. He coached little league baseball in Montclair for six years.
Mr. Baird served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and the Korean War.
David is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gail Grogan Baird; sons, William David Baird and Donald Graham Baird; daughter, Carol Baird Rich and five grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, May 20th at the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home in Montclair.
