Shirley Williams Dodd, longtime resident of Montclair, died peacefully on September 1st after a full, rich life.

Shirley, also known as Peg, was born to parents Robert and Louise Williams in 1924, and raised in New York City.

A Syracuse University graduate, she met her future husband, William Dodd, while he was serving in the Airforce. They married and settled in Montclair, where they raised three children--- daughter Gay and sons Craig and James.

Throughout the years Peg and Bill had many friends.

In addition to being active members of the Montclair Golf Club, Shirley was a longtime member of the Junior League, a very successful real estate agent for Stanton & Company, a prolific bridge player--- and President of the Garden Club of Montclair. As she often said, “Gardening is nourishment for the soul.”

Shirley Williams Dodd is survived by her sons Craig and James; their wives Anne and Lesley; two grandchildren, Whitney and Ross; and one great grandson.

We will all miss her greatly.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday October 21st at 11am at the Presbyterian Church of Upper Montclair, located at Inwood and Norwood Avenues.
