Obituary of Robert A Critides

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Robert Anastasios Critides (“Bobby”) was born on July 20, 1966 to Elizabeth Rose Dougherty Critides and Samuel Demetrios Critides, MD. Bobby was the loving playmate of his four siblings, Elizabeth, Samuel, Elaine and John. Being the third of five children, he was an active child with a keen intellect and love of directing all the events of the day.

Bobby was eager to please, and quick to show empathy for others. He was fascinated by the world around him and loved to talk to ANYONE who would listen. Bob would debate anything with anyone. Even though many of these debates would often raise the temperature in the room, his sparring partners would either come around to his viewpoint, or love him for his conviction. Even when he lost the argument, he never lost a friend. He was infectious and you could not resist being pulled into his circle. Once there, he would never let you go.

Tenacious and irascible as he could be, he was equally loving and sensitive. Bob showered this love on his three boys: Robert Anastasios (17), Andrew John “AJ” (13), and Lukas Patrick “Lukie.” He always wanted them to be around him, and his family. Bob adored his mother, and wanted her to be a big part of his children’s lives. On Saturday nights, he would stay home with everyone, watch movies, a baseball game and cook with “Nana”. These were the moments that were most important to him. Family and friends meant the world to him, so much so, he often neglected himself. He ended up succumbing to this neglect. But he transformed over the short time of his illness. He fought it, acknowledged it and then died peacefully—with a smile on his face, on August 19, 2017. The inner peace and contentment that eluded him in life, came to him in death.

His family, children and friends will all miss him beyond what words can express. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be directed to the care and education of Bob’s sons Robert, AJ and Lukas. Your contributions will be graciously accepted at https://www.youcaring.com/bobsboys.
