Catherine Guariglia McHugh

Catherine McHugh (Guariglia ), a native of Newark and resident of West Caldwell for the past 44 years passed peacefully in her home on April, 29, 2017.

Catherine was an active member of St, Aloysius Church and a participant of many volunteer organizations including The Mountainside Hospital Foundation, Mount St. Dominic Academy, and the Caldwell Public Library Foundation.  Upon graduation from Our Lady of the Valley High School she was recruited by and commenced employment with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  After a 3 year period she moved to South Florida and entered the legal field of employment.  Upon returning to New Jersey she continued as a legal assistant while attending Seton Hall University. During the years 1985-1999 she served as office manager at McHugh Incorporated in Montclair, NJ.

Catherine was predeceased by her husband of 26 years, James McHugh, parents Catherine and Dominic Guariglia, five siblings, Nancy Jensen, Mary Pascale, Helen Clohosey, Thomas Guariglia and Linda Spagnola.  Surviving are her beloved children Terence McHugh and wife Maryellen, LIsa Petruzzi and husband Dan, five grandchildren, James, Jack and Michael McHugh and Abigail and Lily Petruzzi as well as the members of the McHugh, Guariglia, McCarthy and Sullivan families and countless friends she considered to be family.
