Fran Furlong was a wonderful gift to the students, teachers and parents at St. Ann's School in Newark. We all looked forward to her coming. I especially remember the candle making project that Fran did with the students and then another time she brought other students to St. Ann's and they performed a wonder play for the students.
Her presence reminded all of us of the goodness of our God. May Fran rest in peace.
God bless her. Gratefully, Sister Alice

My Aunt Fran
Paul Brewster Furlong Heckathorn (Chipp)
1st Son of Jeannie Heckathorn, Furlong, Pannucci
I’d like to thank my step-mom, Carolyn Furlong, Fuzzy’s fourth wife and dear friend, and who rented the car I drove up to be here now… said she wanted to make a contribution…my God…
Also I’d like to pass on a memory of Kim’s…living at 210… going to school together, playing with you kids… sliding down the banister with Cindy.…and of being completely loved by Aunt Fran… who called her “her seventh child.” And you know, that’s how Kim still feels about her now… Aunt Fran’s seventh child.
Aunt Fran was there on the day of my birth. She and Mom were friends and waited together for their men to come home.
And when the war was over …
Some of us were already in diapers.
And some of you… still a forecast ― heavy weather comin’ in ―
― and it was comin’ in ―Love and everything else… growing fonder ― pulling the war to a close with every stitch and every prayer, what an explosion of pent-up love, desire and―more than anything―the promise of future!
― that’s what some of you are made of ―
Nutty people are easy to trust and delightful to love. 210 required a special kind of nut, hard on the outside; soft in the middle… Aunt Fran was made for that job.
Blinking against The Light must have nearly blinded her at times ― Light ― the speed that Angels fly ―
Energy never dies…it just turns into something else… just as the Love that Aunt Fran IS…IS… and will always BE.

I knew Fran from my years working as secretary at Immaculate Conception. She was truly a kind and loving person who will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences to her family.

Aunt Fran was an original. Beauty, intelligence, kind hearted, and a great sense of humor. She was one of those rare people you meet in life that never said had an unkind word for anyone, and you never heard anyone say an unkind word about her. Her family was everything to her, and her love and loyalty for them could not be questioned.
