Deepest sympathy to Stephen, Thais, Sydney and all the family.
I met Anais, known as "Tuppence" to me, when she was 15 years old. She immediately bowled me over with the beauty and brilliance of her being. Throughout the years she awed me with her intelligence, wit and zen demeanour. A golden highlight in my life was visiting her for a month in London in the late 1980s. Who better than with her to share riding all over atop double decker buses, conquering the Hampton Court maze in no time flat, listening to the cathedral organ in Cambridge, seeing Vanessa Redgrave perform live in Orpheus Descending, taking in a Covent Garden opera and more? After losing touch for some time, in recent years I was lucky enough to have hours of engaging and fun phone chats with her and I will miss them profusely. On a special note, I am grateful for how wonderful she always was with my children, Wilder and Hayley. I will love her forever.

Anais was a wonderful Children's Librarian and charming friend to me and my Grandson, Frankie. She brought the stories alive each week with song and play. Her smile and joy of books and reading filled the room. She made it such a treat for Frankie to help her spell words with her felt letters. We are already missing her so much. She loved her family very much and was very proud of her daughters. As a mom of daughters, myself, we spent many a time extolling the virtues of having daughters. To Anais' Family my deepest sympathies.

I am crying to hear this news. I couldn't believe it because she was so vibrant. My daughter worshipped her style of teaching and her love of books. She was truly an incredible individual and made my time with my young daughter at the library so precious. Her lessons were infused with laughter and love and a reverence for children and books. Today is a sad day indeed for she touched so many lives so profoundly. My daughter will be devastated. Love and prayers.
