Obituary of Bard Hoffman Langstaff

Bard Hoffman Langstaff; Antiquary, 81 Bard Hoffman Langstaff, an authority on antique English silver, died on May 18 at Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge, NJ. He was 81 years old and lived in Upper Montclair, NJ. Born in New York, NY to the Rev. John and Phyllis Langstaff, he grew up in Morristown, NJ. Throughout his career Mr. Langstaff was associated with S.J. Shrubsole, one of the world’s leading dealers in antique silver and jewelry. Mr. Langstaff attended Brooks School, Hobart College and Columbia University. An Episcopalian, he served in the choir and vestry for many years at St. James Church in Upper Montclair, NJ. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Langstaff (née Eldridge), his sons, William and John, his daughter Elizabeth, and three grandchildren.
