Obituary of Hannah Coughlan

Hannah Mary Viola (nee McEvoy) Coughlan, of West Orange, New Jersey died peacefully at home 18 August 2012 surrounded by her family. Hannah (a/k/a Viola, Vi) was born in Dublin Ireland, the daughter of William McEvoy and Elizabeth (nee O'Neill) McEvoy. Hannah was a billing clerk at Newsweek Magazine for more than 17 years and was a devoted member of The Church of the Immaculate Conception; it was there where she married her husband of nearly 47 years, Richard and by whom she is survived. She is also survived by daughters Patricia Adams and her husband James Adams, and Kathleen Coughlan; son, William Coughlan; four grandchildren: Caitlyn, Ciara, Colin, and Declan Adams; brother Oliver McEvoy; sisters, Helena Holst, Beatrice McEvoy, and Mary Campbell; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Hannah is preceded in death by brothers Billy McEvoy and Joe McEvoy, brothers-in-law Michael Coughlan and John Holst, sister-in-law Rose McEvoy, and grandson Liam Adams. Visitation will be held on 20 August between 6 pm - 8 pm at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Montclair, NJ. The funeral will be held on 21 August at 10 am at Immaculate Conception with Reverend Joseph Scarangella officiating. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception R. C. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to St. Barnabas Health Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 95 Old Short Hills Road West Orange, NJ 07052 or to The Church of the Immaculate Conception, 30 North Fullerton Avenue Montclair, NJ 07042.
