I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my high school classmate, Walt. During our high school years I served as the football mascot while Walt humbly served as one of our star team players. While at times he appeared shy with his boyish grin, he was a bulldog on the football field and was a major Mountie player and contributor to MHS winning the State championship. Although we lost touch over the years, I always looked forward to reading his "letters to the editor" in The Montclair Times where he often expressed his concern about things he cared about in his beloved Montclair hometown. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family. May God bless you with beautiful memories during this difficult time. Sincerely, JP Powell
