Dr. Randolph L. Sampson brought to his patients and colleagues a professionalism, competence and humanity, which has been, and will remain, unequalled. Dr. Sampson's strength of character and benevolence was based on a world experience and odyssey, which took him from South America, to Austria, and much to our benefit, to the USA. Dr. Sampson's long and strong association with Dr. Aubrey Charasz, also a giant of our Anesthesiology and Physician Community, speaks to the quality of Dr. Sampson's work and contributions. Dr. Sampson is sorely missed by all of his colleagues, who have been privileged to have had the benefit of his expertise, personal vitality and warmth. We all live forever through our children, as will Dr. Sampson, who will live forever through the vitality of his children, who he loved dearly, as well as in our dear memories. Richard J.
