Funeral services for Mrs. Lore Alston age 71, of New Jersey will be held on Saturday at 2-p.m. from the Canaan Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Lore Lene Alston was born on July 19, 1941, the fifth child of Sammie Lee Nalls, Sr. and Mozella Cain Nalls. Lore departed her life on Monday, September 17, 2012 in her home in Hillside, New Jersey. Lore accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and joined Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Fayette, Alabama. A graduate of Fayette County Training School, Lore attended Alabama State College. Later, she moved to White Plains, New York, where she met and married Turner Bowser. To that union, one son was born, the late Reginald Bowser. She was a devoted wife and mother. After 20 years of service, Lore retired from New York Presbyterian Hospital. Having worked in many capacities over the years, she retired as a recreational therapist. She later moved to Hillside, New Jersey, where she met and married the late Charles Alston. Lore and Charles were devoted members of the New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey, where she served in the Pastor's Aid Department. Lore Lene was preceded in death by her pride and joy, son Reginald Bowser, beloved husband Charles Alston, loving parents, Sammie and Mozella Nalls, sisters Patricia Nalls, Vaudene Wright, Gwendolyn Joyce Wilson, and brothers, Sammie Lee Nalls, Jr. and Cecil Harold Nalls. Lore loved to plan family and church events. Her family, both immediate and extended, was her main focus. She leaves behind to carry on her legacy and cherish her memory: sisters Charlene Whiteside and Wanda Nalls Lockett of Fayette, Alabama, and brother Clarence P. (Francis) Nalls, of Salina Kansas. She also leaves a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
