Obituary of Elizabeth Kenny

Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elizabeth (Lib) Gracy Kenny was born in Montclair on January 24, 1915, to Esther Newell Gracy and Leonard Rider Gracy. Lib brought a sense of style to everything she did. She died peacefully in her Montclair home on March 8, 2013. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Thomas Ramsey (Bill) Kenny and their son Thomas Frederick (Fred) Kenny II. She will be missed by her daughter, Lynne Scott, son-in-law, Simon Scott and daughter-in-law, Tracy Bean Kenny. She was lovingly referred to as "Mema" by her six grandchildren (Tom Scott, Alec Scott, William Scott, Elizabeth Kenny-Stein, Erin Kenny and Kate Scott) and 8 great-grandchildren. She had a strong connection to Montclair, the town where she spent most of her 98 years. Lib attended the Kimberley School of Montclair, graduated from Emma Willard School and studied at Hollins University in Virginia. Her own good eye augmented by her formal study of interior design in New York helped her make her homes uniquely elegant and inviting. A long-time member of the Metropolitan and Montclair art museums, she had a lifelong appreciation of beauty. She and her husband Bill had a wide circle of dear friends from all over the world. They enjoyed golf, bridge, summer vacations with their children and grandchildren, and travel with friends to interesting places. Lib was deeply loyal to family and friends. The family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers, especially Velda Mentor, Patrice Mentor, Sherma Weekes, for bringing grace and comfort to her last, sometimes difficult years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the T. Frederick Kenny Memorial Scholarship Fund at Phillips Academy, Andover, or the St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Montclair.
