Charles Francis "Brud" Lynch, age 83, of Normandy Beach, NJ passed away at St. Barnabas Medical Center on Thursday January 31, after a brief illness. Charles was born in Paterson, NJ on April 7, 1929, son of the late Federal District Court Judge Charles Francis and Marie Kearns Lynch. He attended both Fordham Prep and Fordham University on full scholarships, graduating with a Bachelors degree in 1951. Soon after graduation, he enlisted in Officers Candidate School for the US Army, serving with distinction from 1952 to 1955, and earning an Honorable Discharge as a Captain. He began his career working for Prudential in Newark, during which time he earned his Masters of Business Administration from Rutgers University, Newark. He then joined the Stock Clearing Corporation, the predecessor to the New York Stock Exchange. There he helped create the universally accepted stock certificate numbering system- acronym CUSIP- which is still in use today. He rose to Vice President of the NYSE and served as the President of the Data Management Division (1974 & 75). He moved on to become the Global Operations Manager for Brown Brothers Harriman, the Private Bank, retiring in 1990. He is survived by his devoted wife of more than 52years, June nee Borneman, and their four loving children Tara Evans and her husband Frank of South Orange, Taugh and his wife Durie of Little Silver, Bran and his wife Jennifer of West Grove (PA), and Kieran and his fiancé Diane of East Stroudsburg (PA). His warmth and charm will also be missed by his 12 adoring grandchildren: Shane, Shawn, Seamus, Tegan, Conall, Aidan, Brady Ann, Marin, Quinn, George, Tara Jane, and Cecilia. He is also survived by his sister, Sheila Mary Lynch of New York City and was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick Lynch, of Boca Raton, Florida. Charles was an avid golfer, accomplished skier, and champion sailor. He served as both Commodore of the Normandy Beach Yacht Club, and was founder and president of the Normandy Beach Polo Club. His greatest joy, however, was hosting his entire family at his waterside home in Normandy Beach.
