Obituary of Gertrude Tierney

Tierney, Gertrude "Terry" (Brennan), 77, of Upper Montclair, NJ passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, November 2, 2010. She was born June 22, 1933 in Roscommon Ireland. She came to America when she was 18. She attended Katherine Gibbs, worked for Royal Globe Insurance and Monroe Calculating Machine Company before marrying and becoming a mother. She was a member of St. Cassian Church. She is survived by her husband, Edward J. Tierney "Ned" and children, Bill Tierney of Montclair, Mary Ellen (Tierney) Onofrio and her husband David of Bristol, CT; Cathy Tierney, Edward "Buddy" Tierney, Jim Tierney and his wife Pam; John Tierney, and Michael Tierney, all of Upper Montclair; her grandchildren, Sarah, Dan, Grace, Jack, Alissa, Michael, Dylan, Sandy, Ryan, and Sean. Also surviving her are her sisters Lily Richardson, Attracta Critzen, Christina Mulvaney. Margaret Abel, her brother Noel Brennan, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother John Brennan, and sisters Winifred Flarity and Mary Ellen Bolan. Funeral from the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park Street, Montclair, NJ on Saturday at 9am. Then to St. Cassian Church, 187 Bellevue Avenue, Upper Montclair where at 10am A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9.
