Obituary of Henry Gill

Henry A. ("Harry") McGill, 91, a longtime resident of Upper Montclair, New Jersey, died on August 31, 2011. Harry was a graduate of St. Cecelia High School in Englewood, New Jersey, Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland, and New York University's Stern School of Business. He served as a Lieutenant in the Navy in World War II, stationed in the South Pacific islands. Harry served in the FBI for twelve years before earning his MBA at NYU and settling into a career as an investment advisor in New York City. Harry is survived by his wife Florence T. McGill, M.D., his son Kerry McGill, and his daughters Sharon Buge and Christa McGill. He was a devoted grandfather to Sharon's children, Kimberly and Kevin, and Kerry's children, Blake and Reagan. One of five children himself, Harry will be greatly missed by his surviving sister, Mary Monaghan. Beloved by his family, Harry will be remembered for his devotion to his family, sense of humor, storytelling, and generous spirit. Funeral from the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park Street Montclair on Thursday at 9:30 AM. Then to St. Cassian Church, 187 Bellevue Avenue Upper Montclair where at 10:30 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, www.stjude.org and the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
