Obituary of Henry Rogers

Henry Patrick Rogers Jr. (Hank) Montclair, NJ — Henry Patrick Rogers Jr., 80, of Montclair, passed away on Monday, August 1st, 2022. Hank was predeceased by his parents, the late Harry and Anna (Ward) Rogers, brother Thomas, and son Kevin. Hank attended Saint Benedict’s Prep and was a graduate of Morehead State University in Kentucky with degrees in English and History. Hank would go on to receive Master’s degrees in Linguistics from Morehead State University and Irish Literature from The National University of Dublin, Ireland. Hank started and ended his career in teaching, receiving multiple teaching awards and in between had successful sales leadership roles in the medical publication industry.

Hank was an avid reader, writer, historian, and storyteller. Whether in the classroom, on the golf course, or with family and friends, Hank lit up the room with his voice, charisma, humor, and knowledge. He will never be forgotten.

Hank is survived by his darling wife Elaine (Higgins) Rogers, son Hank III and wife Miho, granddaughter Sophia Ann of Livingston, New Jersey; daughter Kate (Rogers) Vignoe and husband John, grandson Luke Henry of Peapack, New Jersey; sister Susan Mckay and the late John McKay of Stuart, Florida; brother Michael Rogers and sister-in law Jan of Bloomsbury, New Jersey; sister-in law Carol Rogers of Sugar Loaf, New York; many adored cousins, nieces, nephews and good friends. A memorial mass will be held at the St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Church of the Immaculate Conception, 32 North Fullerton Avenue, Montclair, NJ on Tuesday, August 9th at 10AM.
