Obituary of Marjorie Benson

Marjorie McKeough Benson, 1915-2011 Marjorie McKeough Benson passed away on Dec. 19, 2011. She was 96 years old. She was born in New York City and moved to New Jersey in the early 1940's. For 31 years, she was a resident of Montclair, NJ. For the past 16 years, she lived in East Stroudsburg, Pa. She graduated with a BA in English from St. Joseph's College in 1938 and married Melvin B. Benson, Jr. the same year. She received a Masters' degree in Library Science from Caldwell College and was a librarian at Immaculate Conception High School, Montclair, from [1972 to 1978]. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband in 1984. She is survived by her sister Barbara McKeough Hunter, her 10 children, Gaile Pohlhaus, Melvin (Peg) Benson, Harry (Gail) Benson, Glen (Kathie) Benson, Margaret Benson, Peter (Beth) Benson, David Benson, Paul (Beth) Benson, Catharine (Fred) Benson, Chris (Brenda) Benson, 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park St., Montclair, NJ on Friday at 9:30 AM, then to Immaculate Conception Church, 30 North Fullerton Ave., Montclair where at 10:30 AM. a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
