Obituary of Lucille Falbo

Please share a memory of Lucille to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lucille Vitolo Falbo, MSW, CSW, of Cedar Grove, New Jersey, entered into eternal peace on Friday, May 25, 2018. She led a vibrant, full life that matched her vivacious personality.

Born on May 12, 1948 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to the late Ernesto and Antoinette Vitolo, Lucille was the “baby” of nine brothers and sisters.

Lucille married Joseph Falbo, Sr. on June 14, 1970. Together they had two children, Joseph, Jr. and Stephanie, and raised their family on Staten Island.

Later in life, Lucille pursued degrees of higher education. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Staten Island, and was very proud to earn her Master’s Degree from New York University in 1997. She also worked as a full-time social worker at Staten Island University Hospital.

Lucille cherished spending time at her winter home in Florida. She was an avid Mahjong player, enjoyed reading the newest selections from the Montclair Public Library, and always looked forward to ending each day by relaxing in front of the TV to watch “her shows.” She took pride in looking good and feeling good, and would indulge herself in weekly blowouts at the salon. She also loved the arts and food culture of New York City, and just recently completed her bucket list of visiting all the top-rated Zagat restaurants in Manhattan.

Lucille’s biggest passion was her family. She will forever be remembered as a selfless mother and grandmother who provided her children unconditional love and support. While her family will miss her tremendously, they will keep her spirit alive by the numerous lessons she taught and the beautiful experiences they shared.

Lucille was predeceased by mother, Antoinette Vitolo; her father, Ernesto Vitolo, her sister, Bridget Lombardo; and her brothers, John, Frankie and Ernie Vitolo.

She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her son, Joseph Falbo, Jr. and his fiancé, Lisa Marie Latino; her daughter, Stephanie Kennedy and her husband, Andrew Kennedy; her beloved grandchildren, Sophia and Sarah Kennedy; her sister, Angelina Daniele; her brothers, Salvatore, Nicholas and Anthony Vitolo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received at The Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park Street Montclair, NJ on Saturday, June 2 from 1-3pm with a service following at The Presbyterian Church of Upper Montclair, 53 Norwood Avenue Upper Montclair, NJ at 4pm.
