Mary F. Bondon, a longtime Montclair resident and community activist, died on November 18 at age 95. She had lived independently at her homes in Montclair and Stuart, Florida until her death from a stroke. Mrs. Bondon was a trustee of Montclair State University, an active member of Union Congregational Church, a member of the Montclair Garden Club and a founder of May in Montclair. She was also active for many years in the League of Women Voters. Born in Kearny, NJ, Mrs. Bondon was a 1938 graduate of Montclair State Teachers College. In 1939 she married Lewis A. Bondon, engineer and technology pioneer who died in 1999. She is survived by her four children, David Bondon and wife Marilyn of Atlanta, Christine Olsen and husband Richard of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Amy Bondon of Ocala, Florida, and Marylou Dodge of Nutley. She is the grandmother of six children and great grandmother of four. She also leaves her niece MaryLynn Berry and nephew Paul Caffrey, as well as five great nieces and nephews. Finally, she leaves her companion of her last years, Gordon Murphy. A memorial services for Mrs. Bondon will be held on December 19th at 11 a.m. at Union Congregational Church, followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations to Montclair State University or the Salvation Army are welcome.
