Robert Edward Johnson Robert Edward Johnson (94), WWII Navy officer, Presbyterian Minister and Shaklee distributor of Jamestown, NY, Cleveland Ohio, and Bloomfield, Clifton and Montclair, NJ passed away peacefully on April 10, 2016. A memorial service will be held on Sat. May 21, 2016 at The Presbyterian Church of Upper Montclair, 53 Norwood Ave., Montclair, NJ 07043 at 10 A.M. Robert was the loving husband of Catharine (Kay), née Carrick for 42 years, and the beloved father of Carl, Susan, Patricia, and Debi, the grandfather of Dawn, Tommy, Kevin, Kelly, Eric and Kerry, and great-grandfather of Erin, Emily, Anthony, Michael, Connor, Ryan and Brooke. He was the loving friend of Erna for 19 years. Rev. Johnson was the pastor at Bethany Presbyterian Church of Cleveland, Ohio (1955 -1963). He organized Cleveland Recovery Inc. which expanded to 17 groups and fostered others in several states. He was the chairman of the social welfare department of the Cleveland Area Church Federation. In 1963 he became co-ordinator of urban work for the Presbyterian Synod of New Jersey in Newark, which concentrated on urban renewal through self-determination. In 1966 he joined the staff of the National Board of Missions in NY, becoming the Associate for Urban and Industrial Ministries and an Associate for Church and Housing. He was chairman, for the Harbison Development Corp. (SC), which planned a new town of 7,000 units including office, commercial and light industrial development within its acreage. In 1977 he left the church to form a consulting firm in the field of senior and community housing. He became a Shaklee distributor. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was an Ensign SC serving in both the Pacific and European theaters. He was a graduate of Washington Jefferson College, and Louisville (Ky) Theological Seminary. He avidly continued his education throughout his life.
