A LOVING FATHER George A. Doemling of Ridgewood Avenue, Glen Ridge, NJ died at his residence on May 17, 2012. Funeral visitation will take place in the Chapel at St. James Episcopal Church, Upper Montclair, NJ on Monday, May 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will be offered at the Church at 11 a.m on Tuesday, May 22. Military Interment will follow at The Mount Hebron Cemetery, Upper Montclair, NJ. Mr. Doemling was born in New York City in 1929. His family roots date back to the beginning of America. He was a direct descendent of Lord Ackerly who was a prominent figure during the American Revolution. Mr. Doemling graduated from St. Francis College and went on to receive his master's degree from Montclair State University. Mr. Doemling was a corporal in the United States Army. He received The Award of Commendation Ribbon with Medal Pendant of Honor for Meritorious Service in Korea during the period May 1953 to July 1954. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve Corps until 1960. Mr. Doemling was a college professor who recently retired. Throughout his accomplished career he taught English Literature, Composition, and Writing at Colleges and Universities in New Jersey. Professor Doemling will be greatly missed by his many students. Among his passions were the arts, literature, music, and poetry. Mr. Doemling loved to go to church and enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived and will be forever loved and missed by his children Marguerite and William both of Glen Ridge, NJ and his daughter Joyce and her husband Salvatore Minardi of Madison, NJ. Mr. Doemling was predeceased by his beloved wife of 47 years, Mary Jane Horan who died on June 24, 2002.
